Wilde Works

category: Jewellery & Silverware

region: Midlands

Drawing inspiration from social and global issues, I translate them into minimalist pieces of contemporary jewellery that convey messages about peace, equality and the environment. As a designer/maker I work mainly in Sterling silver, adding colour and interest with resin and gemstones. All my pieces are handmade using traditional methods and techniques, combined with 3D CAD design technology.

My collection to date includes kinetic rings, and two minimalist Sterling silver and resin ranges called First Exploration and Snapshot 2016. I am currently working on a new range called Beyond the Horizon, which incorporates aesthetic influences from the other side of the world to symbolise the harmony many of us strive for. I also work to commission and provide CAD design services.

Wolf in the Shed

category: Glass

region: North West

I work with fused and stained glass. I am fascinated by the way light works with colour. There is importance in the time of day, the weather, or a reflection from water. Pattern and textures become visible and the angle which the light enters the glass takes on new importance.

I also enjoy the way vague blocks of colour can suggest a place or object. I create the sense of a scene through the colours melted into glass.

Recent designs have been based around using stained glass in more sculptural forms. Lead is flexible and relatively soft and it allows me to bend and alter a form as I am making.

Work is available from under £10 up to many hundreds. Working to commission is a real challenge, but I find myself developing ideas in new and unexpected directions.

Zoe Scutts

category: Jewellery & Silverware

region: South East

I design and make all my ceramic pieces at my studio in Kent. The essential part of my making ethos (in a world of mass production) is that the process is completely formed by my hand so each piece is unique.

The range of pieces in my Ceramic Jewellery 2013 portfolio are inspired by nature and its forms, as well as my love for the materials I use – primarily porcelain. I use minimal glazing preferring to concentrate on the beauty of the raw material and textures that I create upon it.
