Knitluxe Studio

category: Textiles - Clothing

region: South East

Knitluxe Studio is a UK based design studio, creating sophisticated yet playful sports luxe clothing and accessories using ethically sourced and sustainable luxury yarns. The studio aims to challenge and transform the perception of knitted textiles while retaining craftsmanship, traditional techniques mixed with modern contemporary knitwear designs. It is designed to make the wearer feel powerfully different, maximising the natural performance properties of wool.

Knitluxe Studio has been established by Szilvia Burrows – an award-winning textile designer in Buckinghamshire. Originally from Budapest, Hungary, Szilvia moved to the UK in 2009 to complete a course in Art and Design and went on to complete her degree in Buckinghamshire New University to pursue her dream to be a designer. Her accessories range is created with Supergeelong Lambswool, initially for sustainable reasons, however wool has many natural benefits and is one of the world’s most technically advanced fibres working in total harmony with the wearer’s body. Each piece is created and constructed by hand on a 12gg vintage hand flat knitting machine. At all stages, Szilvia is committed to sustainability and only selects high quality traceable luxury yarns.

Koa Jewellery

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: South West

From his studio near the picturesque Poldhu cove on the Lizard peninsula, Lawrence Gibson creates his truly unique range of Koa jewellery. The coves and the landscape of Cornwall have and continue to provide an endless source of inspiration to Lawrence, allowing him to achieve a dynamic and contemporary collection of pieces that are entirely his own. The designs take a direct influence in nature and the seashore, harbour life and the movement of the sea. Also from summer pastimes and surf culture. Simple forms hold colour and respond to natural light, others frame scenes, an image or a memory. More often than not, as with a painting or a sculpture, the owner responds by seeing what only they themselves see in each piece. This makes the jewellery become even more personal. Every piece of Koa Jewellery is hand made by the artist.
Koa featured in March’s Vogue magazine in ‘The Crown Jewels’ – a focus on new British jewellery designers.

Kyra Mihailovic Ceramics

category: Ceramics

region: London

My work in high-fired stoneware and porcelain explores form, colour and pattern to create relatively small scale work with a strong visual impact that may provoke pleasure when viewed and used. My pieces are hand-thrown and turned on the wheel; texture, weight, balance, scale and shape are all important components of my work. I hand paint my work in ceramic colours and oxides before biscuit firing; most of my work is glazed internally in a second, higher firing with exteriors left unglazed. Everyday sensory experience, organic forms, travel and historical artifacts all inspire my ceramics.

Laconic – Lindsay Forbes

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: North East

Laconic is a sustainable brand by jewellery designer, Lindsay Forbes. Crafted by hand in small batches using traditional Goldsmithing techniques and responsibly sourced materials.

My design inspirations range through travelling; experiencing culture and history, my Scottish heritage; folklore influenced by natural landscape and exploring design boundaries. I have an appreciation for minimal and sculptural design as well as consideration for the history and purpose of jewellery.

I use traditional Goldsmithing techniques, including lost-wax casting and forging. Cast elements are combined with hand-built details fabricated by cutting sheet metal, forging wire and soldering.

Laconic was born from my desire to do something I wholeheartedly believed in and was passionate about. It’s been influenced by my experiences and I continue to learn and be inspired by what’s possible. Years spent at art school taught me the design process, drawing and designing to a brief and knowledge of how materials work together to craft them into existence, building upon this by working in the industry learning and honing my skills. I hope that when you see and wear a piece of Laconic jewellery you can appreciate the attention to detail within each element, which has been designed with sustainability and responsibility in mind.

Lauren Hunt Jewellery Designs

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: South West

I use traditional goldsmithing methods to handcraft delicate fine jewellery, and have been a practising metalsmith for over 6 years. I favour a timelessly organic, feminine, modern romantic aesthetic, and draw inspiration from the metals and gemstones I work with as well as earthy textures and soft colour palettes. Much of my work is hammer textured and features unusual rose cut precious gemstones.

My work is made to order from eco-friendly materials and meticulously sourced gemstones and provides an ethical alternative to mass produced fine jewellery.

Artist, designer, seamstress, I make no difference between fine and applied arts. Autodidact, I enjoy working with and on a variety of media and materials. Fabric inspires me to design and sew bags and purses that combine elegance, ingenuity and practicality.

Each creation is hand-crafted and unique in its materials, colours, play on designs; they can be made to order and customised to your specifications.
