My work as an artist has evolved from my experiences as a child, within the South Wales valleys. I have explored traditional stitch and print within my work, reflecting on the working class values of community life with its humour and warmth. My work also reflects on the women who were in my life as […]

Accessories label Anita Nemkyova was set up as a project to create beautifully crafted pieces. Every product is skilfully designed and made by hand in my workshop, ensuring high quality throughout the entire manufacturing process. With an emphasis on ethically and environmentally conscious production, I collaborate with sustainable British and Italian tanneries, using primarily vegetable-tanned leathers. This is an old artisan process where only natural extracts and dyes are used in order to be environmentally friendly. Leathers treated this way keep their natural look and unique character. With my passion for sustainability, materials such as cork or pinatex will be added to our seasonal collections, along with recycled materials such as canvas or recycled leather with the aim to reduce / reuse / recycle. My seasonal collections include accessories from bracelets to belts and body pieces, lifestyle products such as bags, backpacks, wallets and other leather goods.

I make jewellery and ceramics inspired by the morphogenetic forms in nature: plant cell-structure; insect wings; honeycomb; barnacle clusters.
My pieces are, to me, wearable sculpture, or useful sculpture – an attempt to share my awe with others.
I work mainly in recycled silver and porcelain, and occasionally in other metals and clays.

Based in North Wales, Bethan Corin makes from her home studio. She finds importance in the method of making, the details of things handmade, right down to the practical mechanical aspects of a clasp or a pin. The form, the texture, the feel of a piece is what leads Bethan’s designs. Enjoying the endless opportunities for […]

I design and make jewellery in my tiny studio in Colwinston, South Wales. Inspired by artisans on my travels, I have been designing and creating hand-punched copper lanterns and decorations for about eight years. I take my design inspirations from art, nature, fabrics and pattern forms. Each and every hole is punched by hand before being shaped into an exquisite lantern or decorative piece. I am constantly experimenting with the medium and welcome commissions.

I am inspired by the form of the classic ceramics from the 20th and 21st century. The modernist and cubist movements have been my points of reference, using their concept of a well designed form with facets and angles as inspiration. It is the marriage of form and function that intrigues me and the distortion […]

I trained in Textile design at Derby college of art in the mid 70’s, specializing in weave and knit.I weave rugs, throws, cushions, scarves, heavy and fine work on my 8 shaft Harris loom.
My inspiration comes from the material I have to work with and the job it has to do. I am enjoying the colours and forms of the Bauhaus movement at the moment. I use alpaca, wool, cotton, recycled rags, in fact anything if it is right for the project. I dye my yarn where necessary using natural, chemical and indigo dyes.

I am a stained and fused glass maker living in Penarth, South Wales.
I have had a number of prestigious commissions, such as making the prizes for the Welsh Learner of the Year at the National Eisteddfod. I was also the first artist in the UK to be licensed by the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff to be able to use the centre and wording in my work.
I am interested in exploring the many possibilities offered by stained and fused glass, and my work includes door panels, wall panels, and jewellery, sometimes incorporating other materials such as copper wire.

I work from my home in Bethesda, North Wales surrounded by my collection of art created by friends and family, vintage treasures and charity shop finds. These are all a great source of inspiration within my jewellery making.
I have always had a fascination with colour and wanted somehow to bring it into my work. I became very conscious of the amount of colour in packaging that we simply discard and throw away, in particular the rich jewel like colours in some plastic bottles and confectionery wrappers.
Having a keen interest in re-using and recycling, I decided to utilise these materials and have since been developing my jewellery from recycled plastics, foils, semi precious stones, reclaimed beads and silver. I have been making jewellery since leaving college in 1991 and my work has been shown in many exhibitions and galleries around the UK.

I’m a self taught maker in wood: working as a farmer in beautiful mid-Wales, trees & woodlands had always intrigued me as an integral part of nature, and with an abundance of windblown trees around me, it was a natural progression to purchase a lathe and attempt to honour the spirit of the tree by creating a piece that displayed its beauty. That philosophy has stayed with me from day one. I have a variety of pieces, ranging from solid burr oak coffee tables, to bowls, decorative platters, vases, sculptural forms/pieces etc. I often like to incorporate different techniques into my work, such as fuming, bleaching and scorching the wood. I also like to add materials such as leather cord, metal, nails & paint techniques into my work. I take inspiration mainly from nature, and respect and admire the work of many fellow makers.

Since leaving college in 1998 I have been working solely with hand built porcelain- creating semi functional pieces. My work addresses the boundaries between function and decoration. I look at objects that are used on a daily basis; like the form of a jug and create pieces that move away from function and are more […]

Karen has produced predominantly aesthetic art pieces for many years but has recently rediscovered throwing and has become struck by the unique appeal of ceramics as functional art. Inspired by the Brecon Beacons, her ‘Home’ collection explores the point where beauty and practical purpose meet.
Always fascinated by the naked surface of clay, Karen adds oxides to the clay body to create the exterior colours without having to mask the natural texture of the material. The interior surfaces are glazed to ensure that they are food safe. In developing these glazes, she’s discovered a rich palette of colours which are reminiscent of South Wales itself. This work is art which will be touched, used and treasured.
