John Parsons

category: Furniture & Wood

region: Scotland

I design and create innovative contemporary turned wood pieces, specialising in the challenge of making small, high quality boxes, striving for the perfect shape, a smoothly fitting lid, and a beautiful tactile finish.
Design cues are taken from nature, witnessed in the smooth, often gently curving and flowing profiles. Beauty from simplicity. Perfection in form. Working with natural materials. These are some of the things I am passionate about.
The boxes are made from sustainable woods and range from pure and simple, single wood designs, through to boxes featuring carved decoration, or inlaid contrasting woods. Interiors are equally finished to a high standard. They are little works of art with wide appeal for those who appreciate craftsmanship and the beauty of natural wood.

I create delicate, intricately patterned images filled with romantic, uplifting and inspiring sentiments and use these to make extra special, handcrafted gifts to give to your nearest and dearest! Each design begins life as a pencil drawing which I cut by hand, with a scalpel. This process fills each image with character and idiosyncrasies that cannot be digitally replicated. I also produce screen prints in limited edition runs.

I design and make wearable wool jewellery and hair accessories inspired by my vintage collections and a quirky sense of humour. I have been in business for nearly 16 […]

I hand-paint silk scarves with my own designs. Each scarf is unique. Inspiration comes from clouds, water, leaves, flowers, French balconies and abstract ideas. I was a self-taught acrylic landscape painter for many years, and diversified after being shown the technique. I am also experimenting with digitally screen printed scarves based on my pastel paintings.

Roger Morris

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: Scotland

Roger Morris is a highly acclaimed and collected jeweller. The majority of Roger’s work since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1975 has been a balance between private practice and teaching both here and abroad. Recent work features the exploration of combining precious metals and laser cut acrylic along with developing techniques of mounting gemstones, highlighted by a unique method of clamp-setting.

His work can be seen in collections that include Houston Museum of Fine Arts, National Gallery of Melbourne, Victoria & Albert Museum, Royal Museum of Scotland, The Crafts Council and The Goldsmiths’ Company.

New work features neckpieces using primarily 18ct coloured golds and precious stones; these pieces compliment the range of unusual clamp-set rings.

Roger who was born in Devon now lives and works in Scotland and has established both his home and studio on the highest hill in Fife where the surrounding views and countryside are a constant source of inspiration.

Standing On A Beach

category: Glass

region: Scotland

Each item is created from layering pieces of glass and fusing to create texture and structure. Initially the glass is cut from cold hard sheets, after firing the glass seems to warm and soften developing a sense of fluidity. Opaque and translucent colours are used together to create a feeling of movement from the light transmission through the fired piece.

Each firing is unique, it is unpredictable, and it has a life force of its own. I am always excited when opening the kiln, you never know exactly what the outcome will be, but it is always beautiful.
