Rosemary Rose Handmade Textiles

category: Textiles & Stitch - Interiors

region: Midlands

I design a range of textiles for the home that explore fragments of memories through images and words, that are multi layered inspired by wallpaper peeling away exposing layers of different patterns that could evoke a lost past. Each piece has a story to tell, tempting your imagination to assign a narrative. Designs are applied using a collage of techniques which include printing, appliqué, free machine and hand embroidery onto a bed of hand rolled felt where I trap open weave fabrics, particularly lace, so that they look delicate and eroded by time. Or onto boiled vintage woollen blankets which have a felted soft surface which is ideal for drawing onto with stitches and creating furnishings in contrasting fabrics. The techniques I use have been developed over the last 12 years since I graduated from Winchester School of Art with a BA in Fashion and Textile Design.

Sacrosanct by Design is the work of multi-faceted Designer/maker Stuart Crabbe. I use Jewellery-Object as a medium to conceptualise, contextualise and visualise my passion for architecture and Christian iconography.
Shape, form and aesthetics in my work derives from the tangible aspects of Christendom: churches, religious objects and scriptural depictions offer essential elements to materialise the context and spiritual message behind each piece.

Susa Jewellery was founded by Mahroz Hekmati in 2017, after 7 years’ experience working and studying in the industry. Her designs are inspired by organic and geometric forms within the art and architecture of ancient civilizations.

She uses the latest technology, as well as traditional methods, to bring her designs to life in an elegantly unique style, tailored specifically for her customers. She is passionate about enamel work, especially “plique a jour” and Cloisonne techniques, therefore enamel is the main feature of her pieces, invoking the simple yet detailed work of the artisans of antiquity and translating it into contemporary jewellery in her own style.

Master Craftsman Timothy Hawkins became a professional furniture designer maker in 1980. He uses various species of wood & the pieces which he designs and creates may be unadorned, or might include inlaying; parquetry; carving or turning – other materials such as glass or metal are sometimes incorporated, too.

Tim & his craftsman use time-honoured methods to make bespoke domestic, corporate and ecclesiastical furniture to meet diverse requirements and budgets. Wheatcroftwillow

category: Basketry

region: Midlands

My name is Rachel Evans and I am a basketmaker, working mainly in willow. I grow some willow myself and I use a few local growers for unusual varieties as well as growers in Somerset. I also love to forage in the woods near my workshop in the gorgeous Churnet Valley for hazel, rush, bark and grasses.

I specialise in traditional English baskets, for kitchen and garden, classic designs that have stood the test of time. I trained with Adrian Charlton of Norfolk. More recently I am developing my own style using colour, twisted branches, or more unusual shapes. I am particularly in love with frame baskets, sturdy and strong.

I also make large and small animal sculptures and other forms in willow for home and garden, both for private commissions and organisations such as the National Trust. My price range is from £30 for a small basket to £1000 for my larger sculptures.

Whitlock Wooden Designs

category: Furniture & Wood

region: Midlands

I primarily work with wood or resin making a wide range of pens. Beautiful pens crafted with exotic woods or something a little more involved with segmented designs. Working with resin enables me to achieve stunning colours or encapsulate some really odd things for a novelty pen. This takes up most of my time but I have a big interest in all areas of woodwork and when time allows making wooden boxes or wooden intarsia.
