Sam Pickard

category: Fashion Accessories   Printmaking   Textiles & Stitch - Interiors

region: South West

Because everything I do starts with drawing, I often arrive at my studio with armfuls of blossom, roses or leaves I’ve gathered from the garden or woodland and sit down and draw.

My lovely print studio is based in North Devon where I create bespoke interior textile products, fabrics, wall-coverings and accessories using traditional printmaking and craft skills, combined with experimental digital technology using the very best materials sourced in the U.K. wherever possible.

My designs have been commissioned to create trays and rugs and have twice been shortlisted for the British Design Awards.

Stitching for the Soul

category: Textiles & Stitch - Interiors

region: Yorkshire

My name is Beverley Holmes-Wright and I have been stitching and creating for over 20 years, but started up a part-time business a few years ago, after completing an honours degree in Creative Practice from Leeds Met University, for which I received First Class.

Why Stitching for the Soul? Stitching makes me happy and is an integral part of my life, it keeps me busy and enables me to meet people who are like-minded, making and buying well crafted hand-made items. I am partial to a bit of soul music too!

I produce carefully made, physical pieces which please the eye and brighten up the homes which take them in: using only the highest quality fabrics and threads, each piece is made using a variety of free machine embroidery, appliqué and delicate stitched patterns. But perhaps the largest part of my work involves planning aesthetic colour schemes and composition so that each creation is harmonious and balanced.

Since 2005 I have been making acrylic contemporary jewellery with wild flower designs. My work is not mass produced. Each piece is individually handmade using real  flowers and leaves to create the designs. The wild plants and weeds that grow in front gardens and wastelands, in hedges and along paths are a rich source of […]

I am a textile artist living on the beautiful rugged cliffs of North Cornwall. It is here in this remote and often windswept environment, I create my hand embroidered, mixed media pieces. I love to build layers of vintage materials especially American feed sack quilt pieces, old text, found objects and hand stitch to make a […]

The Pocket Pirate

category: Fashion Accessories   Leather   Textiles & Stitch - Interiors

region: Wales

Using rich, reclaimed materials alongside largely offset leather, Alys Wall of The Pocket Pirate makes fashion accessories and interior products, providing a tactile and visual contrast between the interior and exterior of her work. Fascinated by how both the seemingly discordant and the compatible can be beautiful, each piece evolves into something entirely unique; reclaimed buttons add their own individual charm.

In the last year she was selected for the Welsh Makers Guild, Made By Hand in Cardiff and the Contemporary Craft Festival.
