Emma Hender

Clean structured shapes are amplified and embellished with texture and oxidisation to give each handcrafted piece a unique and contemporary look and feel. Inspiration for the Formation collection began as a series of experiments on how to transform silver and its surface, which evolved into the intricate and tactile jewellery you see here.

Emma is a jewellery designer-maker based in her home county of Devon. She graduated from The School of Jewellery in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter with a BA (Hons) in Jewellery and Silversmithing. Fable-London

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: London

Fable-London create exquisite, hand-crafted jewellery that brings together modern technology and traditional techniques. Each piece is carved out of a block of Corian using CNC machining, then it is passed to our artists for finishing by hand, with silver detailing and colour added. This process makes every item that we make unique. We love the simplicity of form and crisp clean lines. We hope you do too.

Fern Robinson was awarded a First Class Degree in BA (Hons) Contemporary Craft from Plymouth College of Art in 2016. Fiona Chapman

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: Scotland

My range of colourful, light-weight jewellery is made using my own technique for fusing polypropylene plastic. Exploration and experimentation are key to my development as a maker: naturally inquisitive and fascinated by materials and their properties, I am always wondering “what else can I do with this?”. I use recycled materials whenever possible, creating almost no waste, every scrap of plastic can work its way into a new piece. I like to work intuitively, with pieces evolving at the bench. I am inspired by geology and microscopic life, with light, transparency and reflection becoming increasingly important since moving to the west coast of Scotland.

Fiona West

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: Midlands

My work is inspired by contemporary Japanese architecture that is modernist and geometric in style. Fusing 3d computer technology with traditional gold-smithing skills enables me to produce geometric shapes that are hand-finished to create a range of contemporary geometric jewellery. Each piece encapsulates the simplicity of the line. Prior to my jewellery career I previously worked for 15 years in Human Resources for a major publishing company. Wanting to make use of my creative skills, I decided to embark on a career change and studied for 3 years at Buckinghamshire New University for my BA (Hons) Jewellery Degree and I graduated in 2010. Since graduating in 2010 I have established my workshop in Oxfordshire and will be showcasing my work in the Newcomer’s Gallery at this year’s British Craft Trade Festival in Harrogate.

“Ostranenie: encouraging people to see common things as strange, wild or unfamiliar; de-familiarizing what is known in order to know it more differently or more deeply” As a magpie of treasures that others would deem mundane and invaluable, Fran is fascinated by ‘ostranenie’. Finding beauty in surfaces and objects that are blemished and imperfect, resonates […]
