category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: South West

Jane has a small workshop at home in Yeoford, near Crediton, Mid-Devon. She designs and creates individual, elegant pieces of silver jewellery for women, men and children. Many are one-offs and she enjoys taking commissions for something particularly personal. She also has a line of quirky animal shapes.
Her designs tend to take organic shapes and her inspiration is the natural world. She uses sterling silver, cut, shaped, engraved, textured and polished, and Precious Metal Clay, which is moulded, carved and fired, to create fresh and beautifully wearable designs.

Jane Macintosh

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: London

All my jewellery is individually made using traditional goldsmithing techniques. I work principally with silver and 18ct gold which I often combine to give subtle contrasts of tone and colour, sometimes oxidising the silver for a stronger contrast. I also seek out beautiful and unusual stones in their natural forms to create unique pieces of jewellery which are sculptural objects in themselves. Inspired by the Bauhaus movement and by the urban landscape in which I live and work, my minimalist designs are made with close attention to detail.

Jane Orton

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: Midlands   North West

My work is inspired by natural textures and includes necklaces, pendants, cufflinks and earrings. I like to take items such as a petal, an acorn or a piece of coral and reproduce them in silver, often with contrasting textures, semi-precious stones or a gold highlight. I use traditional jewellery bench methods including electro-forming and casting. Prime Minister Theresa May wore a necklace I made for her on numerous occasions, including the last EU summit and for her resignation speech.

Janet Downes

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: South West

I make jewellery mainly using silver sheet and wire in a variety of techniques. I also use PMC to make pure silver chip beads which I incorporate into jewellery made with semi-precious chip beads.
I started with courses at the Mid Cornwall School of Jewellery where I had a lot of fun and learned the basics. I gradually collected my own tools and have recently acquired my own workshop at home where I enjoy experimenting to see what will work. I find it inspirational to be able to live and work amongst the hills, beaches, seas and skies of Cornwall.

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: Yorkshire

I design and make jewellery, elegantly combining and contrasting silver with acrylic.
Having originally completed a degree in photography before gaining my MA in Metalwork and Jewellery at Sheffield Hallam University, I am keen to combine these interests within my work. I am inspired by the everyday: highlighting the detail and beauty of objects we often visually ignore through photograms. These images and patterns are transferred onto the surfaces of the silver and acrylic using photo-etching and laser-engraving.
I use the organic nature of the patterns derived from photograms as contrast to the clean regular shapes of my jewellery to create interest and elegance. All my work is polished by hand, including pieces that are laser-cut to ensure a high quality and consistent finish.

Jewellery By Silvana

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: North West

I design and make quirky, individual jewellery, using sterling silver and copper as well as incorporating enamel, glass, brass and semi-precious stones sometimes. I also use pewter for brooches, pendants and earrings as well as clocks, thermometers and tiny animal ornaments. Though I didn’t start off this way, my designs are now predominantly animal based as these have proved to be so popular, though I still do my signature gingerbreadmen and also the more elegant ranges that I started my career with a decade ago.
My prices range from £12 up to £35 at the moment. Based in my home studio in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Lancashire, I have been studying, making and selling jewellery for 10 years but turned full-time only very recently.

I am a trained silversmith who works mainly with silver but I have recently incorporated seaglass found on Dorset beaches into many of my pieces.
I love texture and my work involves reticulation and hammering. I’m put off by mass produced jewellery and therefore like to create one off pieces, while keeping my work affordable.
