Jane Austen’s House Museum has received Heritage Lottery Funding for an exciting project Piecing together Jane Austen: Her Chawton Legacy 200 years on. To commemorate Jane Austen’s death, this project will conserve, display, recreate and respond to a group of artefacts that make up the material evidence of England’s best-loved author’s life at Chawton.
A key aspect of the HLF project is the creation of a new community story quilt, inspired by a core artefact in the museum collection; a patchwork coverlet created by Jane, her sister Cassandra and their mother.
The Museum are looking for someone to work alongside the Heritage Activities Project Manager, community groups and volunteers to both design and facilitate the creation of a community quilt. Please follow the link below for full details and an application form…
