Gallery Invigilator, Hauser & Wirth

Hauser & Wirth is a leading commercial gallery globally for Modern and Contemporary art with locations across Central and Southern Europe, the UK, the US, and Asia. They are looking for a Gallery Invigilator for their Somerset gallery.

Main duties:

Maintaining the very high standards of customer service established at the Gallery including:

  • Knowledge on current exhibitions, events, the history of Durslade Farm, the architecture, the garden and all aspects of the gallery programme
  • Enhance the visitor experience by offering information to visitors
  • Balancing conversations with visitors whilst simultaneously ensuring the safety of all artworks and visitors in the gallery
  • Proactively managing the use of the spaces in line with social distancing measures -including managing visitor numbers and the flow of people
  • Attend daily meetings, training and exhibition walkthroughs
  • Maintaining security of the artwork and safety of all visitors
  • Capture evaluative information, report incidences and feedback to the Front Desk team
  • Maintaining a tidy and well-presented gallery
  • Working on weekends and during events
  • Support as Front Desk cover as necessary

Person specification:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Must be willing to work in a fast-paced and dynamic public facing environment
  • Well-presented and punctual with an excellent attention to detail and professionalism
  • Reliable and resilient with the flexibility to carry out a range of duties as per business needs
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic with an interest in contemporary art
  • Previous experience in invigilation or visitor experience in an arts environment is desirable but not essential
