ELEVATE open call for underrepresented artists

ELEVATE, is an artist residency and community engagement project that aims to elevate and celebrate the creative voices, ideas and talents of underrepresented people in our community. ELEVATE is working in partnership with Voice of BME Trafford and is funded by Arts Council England.

“ELEVATE is a direct response to the Black Lives Matter movement, we identified that we must do more to embed diversity in our creative offer and in an authentic and responsive way by supporting people from diverse backgrounds to influence artistic decision-making and use creativity as a platform for change.

We are inviting artists from Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority backgrounds who live in any of the 10 Greater Manchester boroughs to submit a creative idea for a visual artwork that responds to the theme of PATTERNS.

Two artists will be selected by our panel and awarded £200 each to create their artwork, the artwork will be featured in an exhibition alongside the new work created by prolific public artist, Venessa Scott. The exhibition will take place at Streford Public Hall in Stretford, Trafford.”

Accepted artforms: Print media, illustration, photography, film, digital artwork, sculpture, mixed media, poetry (work exhibited as a print), dance (work exhibited as a film), song (work exhibited as lyrics with audio)
