Art-Ceramics

category: Ceramics

region: South West

I am a ceramic artist inspired by the scenery of the beautiful coastline of Devon and Cornwall. Working from my studio in the grounds of Cockington Court near Torquay in Devon, I design and make a range of quirky sculptures of harbours, boats, fish and much more. Hand built using earthenware clay no two are exactly the same, so you can be sure of owning a truly unique piece of art. Each harbour takes several hours to make, paint and fire they are then finished with wooden masts, wire rigging and tiny colourful flags. Driftwood is also used as a base for some of the little boats, sailing on a sea of ceramic shells a colourful hand painted sail and tiny fish hanging on twine as if they have just been caught. I am always happy to take commissions or to personalise a special piece for you.

region: London

I work in several media, primarily porcelain, but I also paint with acrylic on canvas. I have been experimenting and developing skills since I was 15, selling my work at exhibitions, craft fairs and privately through contacts. I taught Art & Design for 23 years.

I have a passion for butterflies and flowers, particularly butterflies, although I do many different works for commissions. I pride myself in producing handmade, original, quality detailed work. The pieces I make come from the heart, inspired from what I see around me and my garden. In addition to making, I use my new studio to teach small private tuition groups & workshops in a wide range of disciplines.

My work is inspired by the architecture of Indian monuments and palaces. The geometry used in the formation of the structural arches of these monuments, the intricate details of the ceilings, and the decorative panels in the windows and screens, all form a rich heritage for my work. The jewellery has the essence of the […]

Avril Cairncross Ceramics

category: Ceramics

region: North West

I work in naked raku. The pots, thrown from a porcelain/T material mix are burnished and then coated with a resist slip before being glazed. Once they are fired and put into a sawdust reduction the glaze starts to craze and then the pots are cooled quickly so that the glaze falls off like eggshell, leaving a silky white surface with smokey grey crackle marks and spots. I love the random effects.

Ayana Jewellery

category: Jewellery and Silverware

region: London

Originally from New Zealand, I now live in London, UK. I gain inspiration from things around me, often from overseas holidays and you’ll also often see my New Zealand heritage shining through with spirals (Koru’s) and other motifs. I create unique jewellery designs handcrafted with silver and with a mixture of polished and textured finishes to give each piece interest. I also love to add some colour in with semi-precious gemstones to create another level to my work. Every piece is one of a kind and I love working with customers to incorporate their ideas and style within the piece. My designs are perfect to enjoy wearing every day, or to dress up outfits for special occasions.
